Course Summary

If you’re passionate about making a difference in young lives this childcare course is the perfect place to start. Whether you dream of becoming a nursery practitioner, teaching assistant or going on to further study this course provides you with the key skills needed.

You’ll learn how to plan engaging learning activities, support child development, and ensure a safe, nurturing environment. You will learn exciting and innovative skills in childcare and education in a state-of-the-art nursery and sensory room environment.

This childcare qualification opens the door to a future working in schools, nurseries, and family support settings making a real impact from day one.

Course Details

You will learn about different subjects, which all focus on meeting the needs of the children in a childcare setting. Some of the units include, healthy eating, safety, craft activities, learning through play, science activities and forest schools. These units will help you to understand what it means to work with children.
On this course, there are plenty of valuable skills you will learn. We you support you with your ICT, Maths and English skills. We will also help you to gain professional skills, such as developing your communication skills, to support you towards progression onto the next level in Childcare and going out into an Early Years setting.

You’ll have the opportunity to spend half of your time within a placement environment. Placements include school settings (primary and secondary), daycare centres, family hubs, nursery schools and more.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

When you do a vocational qualification you will learn in a workshop appropriate for your subject and you will usually be assessed through practical assessments, projects, assignments and oral and written questions. There may be exams in some subjects and your tutor will prepare you for these.

Entry requirements

Level 1 – 3 GCSEs at grade 2 or above
