Course Summary
With the UK’s growing demand for new housing and skilled tradespeople, bricklayers are more in demand than ever – both locally and across the country.
You’ll train in our purpose-built workshops, learning how to lay bricks, build walks and read construction drawings. You’ll be taught by experienced tutors who’ve worked in the industry and know exactly what It takes to succeed on-site. They’ll share real-world tips and techniques to help you master the trade. Who knows, you might be able to build your own house one day.
Our workshops are always buzzing with energy, we believe in learning by doing and having fun while you do it. If you’re practical, motivated and ready to build your future, this course is for you.
Course Details
This qualification is aimed at anyone wishing to learn some skills in bricklaying, to progress on to becoming skilled in their chosen trade, or to progress through an apprenticeship and work towards becoming a master craftsperson.
The course delivers the following in both a theory & practical setting includes: carrying out block laying activities, carrying out bricklaying activities, carrying out cavity walling activities and contribute to setting out and building of masonry structures up to damp proof course. You will study Health and Safety during your course and a full range of practical and theory elements
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Two end exams, which are taken online. Your practical and theory skills will be measured by your tutor in formal assessments and observations. This qualification is delivered over 36 weeks and requires attendance in excess of 90%. You will, as part of your course study towards higher grades in your Maths & English.
Entry requirements
Level 1 – 3 GCSEs at grade 2 or above
Your next steps...
Successful students may progress onto the next level in their chosen subject, a range of careers in the building trade, an apprenticeship, or after a Level 3 qualification, to HNC/HND in Construction at the University Centre Grimsby or other universities.
