WHAT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS DO I NEED?

The minimum requirement for any A level course at Brigg Sixth Form College is five 9-4 grades at GCSE. In addition at least a Grade 5 in a Humanities subject and a Grade 5 in English would be expected.

WHAT WILL I LEARN ON THIS COURSE?

How to communicate clear, concise and logical arguments both on paper and in class

discussions. An understanding of political perspectives. An ability to analyse and evaluate source materials. An awareness of some of the key political events that helped shape the modern world.

WHAT KIND OF PERSON STUDIES THIS COURSE?

Someone with intellectual curiosity. Someone who enjoys debate and discussion. Someone who does not mind reading. Someone with enthusiasm for current affairs, social, economic and political issues. Someone with a desire to understand contemporary political structures and issues in their historical context, both within the United Kingdom (UK) and globally.

WHERE WILL AN A LEVEL IN POLITICS LEAD ME?

While in the Sixth Form at Brigg, Politics will complement a number of other A Level subjects e.g. History, English, French and Geography, as well as providing an interesting contrast for students taking Sciences or Mathematics. It develops a range of transferable skills that will be useful in Higher Education and in a number of professions e.g. Civil Service, Management and Journalism.
