Course Summary
Are you looking to develop an active equestrian career that includes riding, teaching, equine science and therapy? This course will provide you with practical applied experience for all units. Whilst studying the Level 3 in Equine Management you will have the opportunity to tailor units to your particular area of interest, with pathways focusing on rehabilitation and therapy or equitation and coaching.

- Principles of health and safety
- Undertaking and reviewing work-related experience in the land-based industries
- Undertaking stable yard operations
- Equine health
- Horse tack and equipment
- Biological systems of horses
- Equine feeding and nutrition
- Horse behaviour and welfare
- Riding horses to exercise (optional)
- English and Maths, as required
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Work will be assessed using a variety of written assignments, practical assessments and formally externally marked exams. GCSE/Functional Skills exams in English and Maths will be compulsory if these have not been achieved at grade 4 when you start the course. Upon completion of this course, you will be graded pass, merit, distinction or distinction*.
You will normally be in college four days per week, plus one day in work placement. You will need to undertake 150 hours of external work placement.

Following the completion of this course, you will be eligible to progress to study at degree-level and/or to go straight into employment.
Possible career paths include working as a competition rider, instructor, stud yard assistant, sales representative, lecturer or groom.
