Are you looking to launch your career as a bricklayer? This apprenticeship could be perfect for you. There is high demand within the construction industry. As an apprentice you will have a job and earn a wage whilst building up knowledge and skills within the construction industry, specifically in brickwork. The range of sites and projects that bricklayers work on include large commercial developments, new builds in housing, alterations, extensions and restorations.

Course Details

Develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours for employment and future career progression within the industry. This course will cover:

Health and Safety
Masonry Structures
Radial and Battered Brickwork
Feature and Reinforced Brickwork
Building Technology
Energy Efficiency
Customer Service

How will it be delivered and assessed?

You will learn through a range of practical and theory based lessons. You will be assessed through an end point assessment (EPA) and graded pass or distinction. Please note that the duration does not include the EPA.

You will be released from work one day per week to undertake training at the college. You will be employed within the industry, working 30 - 40 hours per week.

Entry requirements

You must have GCSE English and Maths at grade E/3 or equivalent. You must also pass an initial assessment, secure work as an apprentice and have one satisfactory reference.

Equipment required

Stationery, i.e. pens and paper. An electronic device such as a laptop to access online learning. Steel toe-capped boots. High-visibility vest. Hard hat.

Your next steps...

Work as a bricklayer on major new housing and business developments, for established companies or on a self-employed basis. Alternatively, more advanced courses are available at the college.
