How will it be delivered and assessed?

When you do a vocational qualification you will learn in a workshop, salon or studio as appropriate for your subject and you will usually be assessed through practical assessments, projects, assignments and oral and written questions. There may be exams in some subjects and your tutor will prepare you for these. Work experience is a mandatory element of this programme. Learners will work in live engineering environments such as being a fitter in a factory, a machinist in a machine shop or electrical technician in an industrial environment.

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English and maths.

Successful completion of a Level 2 course*

Positive attendance, behaviour and engagement record.
